Poland Targets 51-53% Renewable Energy in 2030 Climate Plan
NATURAL GASFUSION & ADVANCED NUCLEAR POWER
Poland's energy ministry aims for renewable energy sources to constitute 51%-53% of its electricity mix by 2030, as outlined in a draft national energy and climate plan to be submitted to the European Commission. This target is an increase from the 30% announced last year but lower than the previous prediction of 56%, reflecting a shift towards more natural gas usage for electricity generation.
By 2040, renewables are expected to rise to 65%-68%. In an ambitious scenario, coal will be phased out, with nuclear energy projected to account for about 15%. Poland is planning to build its first nuclear power plant by 2036 and expand gas-fired capacity.
