Portage Acquires $280M Fintech Portfolio from Point72 Ventures
DEFENSE
Portage is acquiring a $280 million fintech portfolio from Point72 Ventures, becoming the lead investor in a new continuation fund as Point72 exits the fintech sector to focus on AI and defense technology. The deal, which includes around 40 companies, follows Point72's decision to disband its fintech team in 2024 and involves General Partner Tripp Shriner joining Portage. Goldman Sachs Alternatives facilitated the involvement of additional investors, as Portage aims to expand into venture capital secondaries in private markets.
