Presque Isle Man Freeman Short Dies in Fishing Vessel Lily Jean Sinking off Massachusetts Coast

DEFENSE

Freeman Short, a staff sergeant with the Maine Army National Guard, was among seven fatalities in the sinking of the fishing vessel Lily Jean off Gloucester, Massachusetts, on January 30. Short had served in the National Guard since December 2012, deployed to the Horn of Africa in 2021, and received multiple military awards.
