Province and BC Hydro Sign MOU for Ksi Lisims LNG Project in British Columbia
The province of British Columbia, BC Hydro, and the Nisga'a Lisims First Nation signed a memorandum of understanding to develop the Ksi Lisims LNG project, which includes two floating natural gas platforms. The project aims to export up to 22.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually, primarily to Asian markets.
The facility will receive up to 600 megawatts of clean electricity from BC Hydro. The estimated cost of the Ksi Lisims LNG project is $10 billion, with the potential to attract $13 billion in investments and create thousands of jobs.
Construction of the North Coast Transmission Line, which is essential for the project, will begin in 2026, with completion targeted for 2030. The project received environmental approvals in September and is designed to meet net-zero emissions goals.
