PteroDynamics and AeroVironment Demonstrate Electronic Warfare Integration on Autonomous VTOL Aircraft for U.S. Navy

DEFENSE

PteroDynamics and AeroVironment have successfully completed a technology demonstration integrating electronic warfare sensors on the P4 Transwing autonomous vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) unmanned aircraft. This event, part of Silent Swarm 25 at the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center in Michigan, tested the integrated system across three operational scenarios relevant to U.S.

Navy littoral operations. The Transwing demonstrated capabilities such as launching and recovering from confined areas without runways. Additionally, PteroDynamics received a Special Airworthiness Certificate-Experimental Category from the FAA, allowing the aircraft to operate in U.S. national airspace. The certification reflects the aircraft's maturity and enables further research and development flights for Navy experimentation.
