Quinnipiac University Installs Fuel Cells for Clean Energy Initiative
FUEL CELL
Quinnipiac University is installing 10 high-efficiency fuel cells across its campuses as part of a clean energy initiative, aiming to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 10 million pounds annually. The fuel cells, generating 460 kilowatts each through a chemical reaction with natural gas, will be located primarily at the Mount Carmel Campus, with additional units at York Hill and North Haven. A 10-year power purchase agreement will cover installation and maintenance costs, while the university also plans to adhere to LEED-certified building standards for future facilities.
