Quảng Trị Province has approved the investment policy for the Quảng Trạch III LNG Power Plant, part of the Quảng Trạch Power Centre and included in the Power Development Plan VIII approved by the Prime Minister. The Provincial People's Committee granted approval under Decision No 1678/QĐ-KKT on December 1, 2025.

The project spans approximately 74 hectares, featuring a designed capacity of 1,500 MW using combined-cycle gas turbine technology. The estimated total investment is VNĐ41.8 trillion (US$1.6 billion), with 20% equity from Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and 80% financed through domestic commercial loans.

The project aims to enhance local socio-economic development and contribute to national energy security, supporting Quảng Trị's development as an energy hub in the central region. The Quảng Trạch Power Centre will ultimately have a total capacity of about 4,500 MW.
