Renewable Energy Aggregators Inc. has proposed the Old Forge pumped storage hydroelectric project to address pollution from the Old Forge borehole, which has contaminated local waterways since 1962. The initiative aims to reclaim mine water, purify it to 99.99%, and generate 184 megawatts of electricity, while also restoring aquatic ecosystems. An application for a three-year preliminary permit has been submitted to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
