Rheinmetall's KS Gleitlager Launches District Heating System in St. Leon-Rot to Cut CO2 Emissions
NATURAL GAS
KS Gleitlager GmbH launched a district heating system at its St. Leon-Rot facility on November 28, 2024, aimed at reducing CO2 emissions by up to 800 tons annually through a collaboration with the SLR Giesserei.
The system utilizes a closed underground circulation for waste heat recovery, supporting Rheinmetall's goal of CO2 neutrality by 2035 while decreasing natural gas consumption. Approximately 560 employees work at KS Gleitlager, which specializes in precision plain bearings.
