Richmond and Henrico County Extend CARITAS Shelter Contract to Support Homeless Amid Winter Weather

Richmond and Henrico County have extended their contract with CARITAS for an additional 30 days to support individuals experiencing homelessness due to winter weather. The contract now spans 60 days, allowing CARITAS to continue providing shelter and services.

The Surge Shelter, activated below 40°F, will also support unsheltered individuals when the primary shelter reaches capacity. This extension is part of the cities' commitment to assist vulnerable populations during extreme weather conditions.
