RJD MP Sudhakar Singh Proposes Hydroelectric Projects in Bihar's Kaimur Hills
RJD MP Sudhakar Singh has urged Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to prioritize the establishment of hydroelectric projects in the Kaimur Hills to enhance the state's energy self-sufficiency. In a letter dated December 14, 2025, Singh highlighted the increasing electricity demand due to economic growth and proposed developing a pump storage power plant with over 2,000 MW capacity at the Durgawati Reservoir and an additional 500 MW at the Jagdahwa Reservoir.
He noted the potential for generating approximately 250 MW using run-of-the-river technology. Singh emphasized the projects' benefits for environmental protection, local employment, and overall regional development.
He requested urgent surveys and policy actions from the state government. Singh previously reached out to the Energy Minister on July 11, 2021, but no action was taken.
