Rohde & Schwarz and SRC Develop RSGEN EW Signal Generator for U.S. DoD Labs

DEFENSE

Rohde & Schwarz and SRC have partnered to develop the RSGEN electronic warfare (EW) signal-generation system for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). This system aims to replace bespoke threat simulators with an open, scalable approach that aligns with modern spectrum operations.

Recently delivered to a major DoD research facility, RSGEN integrates with the military's Next Generation Electronic Warfare Environment Generator (NEWEG) and Digital Generator (DGEN). It allows labs to utilize government-owned emitter definitions with commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware, facilitating the creation of complex signal environments.

The system combines SRC's software with Rohde & Schwarz's SMW200A vector signal generators, enabling simultaneous emissions from multiple sources. RSGEN offers scalability from single-port testing to complex multi-port setups, promoting efficiency and reduced sustainment costs through established commercial equipment.
