Romania Requests NATO Mission in Black Sea to Deter Russian Threats
DEFENSE
Romania has called for a NATO mission in the Black Sea, named Black Sea Sentry, to enhance security against increasing Russian drone incursions from Ukraine. This initiative follows the launch of similar missions, including Eastern Sentry.
Romania has faced over 10 drone incursions since the Russian invasion in 2022 and has amended its legislation regarding drone engagement. The presence of Russian activity highlights a significant information and surveillance deficit.
Additionally, Cubic Defense is set to modernize Romania's live training capabilities in a contract with the U.S. Army.
