Romania's Defense and Economic Updates: Lockheed Martin Agreement and EIB Loan

Romania plans to pay USD 600 million to Lockheed Martin for F-16 pilot training at the European F-16 Training Center. The acting minister of defense, Radu Miru??, has requested Parliament's approval for this framework agreement.

Additionally, Romanian state bank CEC has secured a EUR 25 million loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to fund public-sector projects promoting sustainable economic development. In environmental initiatives, the Romanian government plans to plant 380 hectares of forest shelterbelts in southern regions affected by desertification. Moreover, Romanians purchased RON 1.49 billion (approximately EUR 300 million) in euro-denominated debt during the last Fidelis issue, indicating a shift in retail investor interest towards long-term investments.
