Rompetrol Energy has officially become the exclusive operator of the Petromidia cogeneration power plant as of December 30, 2025, following the completion of works approved by the Kazakh-Romanian Energy Investment Fund. The facility, which has generated approximately 150,000 MWh of electricity and 190,000 tonnes of steam since testing began, enhances energy infrastructure in Dobrogea and can supply surplus electricity to the National Power Grid. Commercial operations are set to commence after the necessary licenses were granted in early December.
