Royal Navy Initiates Repair Scheme to Enhance Fleet Readiness and Cut Costs

DEFENSE

The Royal Navy has launched a repair scheme in Portsmouth to enhance fleet readiness and save costs, focusing on repairing rather than discarding equipment. With 84,000 repairable items valued at £200 million, the initiative has already shown significant savings, such as reducing a typical repair cost from £4,361 to £638. Funded by the Ministry of Defence's Productivity Portfolio team, the project aligns with the Strategic Defence Review's aim of achieving £6 billion in savings.
