Britain's Royal Navy has successfully conducted the maiden flight of Proteus, its first full-sized autonomous helicopter designed for anti-submarine warfare and high-risk operations in the North Atlantic. Developed by Leonardo as part of a £60 million initiative, Proteus features advanced sensors and software for autonomous decision-making, enhancing military capabilities in response to rising defense needs following the conflict in Ukraine. The helicopter aims to support the US and NATO allies against evolving regional threats.
