The Rufiji Basin Water Board has launched a $6 million water infrastructure project in Mbarali District, funded by Japan and the World Bank, to improve water resources for five villages over three years. The initiative aims to enhance domestic supply, agriculture, and livestock management while promoting environmental protection through modern infrastructure and relocating farmers from sensitive areas. Additionally, the project addresses challenges such as climate change and agrochemical pollution, vital for the Usangu Basin's role in national economic activities.
