The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) is investing 5.6 million euros in the SPROUT project, aimed at transforming greenhouse horticulture by replacing gas-powered systems with Multi-Carrier Energy Hubs that utilize renewable technologies like geothermal and solar energy. Led by TU Delft's Francesco Lombardi, the initiative will pilot its approach at a greenhouse in Monster and develop tools to facilitate sector-wide adoption, including a web app for designing energy hubs and business model blueprints. Key collaborators include Division Q, eFuelution, and researchers from Leiden University and Wageningen University & Research.
