Self Defense Test Ship Undergoes $30 Million Hull Preservation Ahead of 50th Anniversary

The Self Defense Test Ship (SDTS) is set to undergo a $30 million hull preservation project, scheduled from April 2024 to June 2025 at BAE Systems Ship Repair in San Diego. The work, awarded to AdvantEdge Technology Inc., includes initial preparations by C.D.

Lyon Inc., which began applying primer to the hull. This preservation effort marks the ship's 50th commissioning anniversary.
