Senators Schumer and Gillibrand Secure $10 Million for Genesee County Water Storage Tank Project
DEFENSE
U.S. Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced $10 million in federal funding for Genesee County to build a new 2.5-million-gallon water storage tank in Batavia, addressing water capacity issues following the county's drought disaster declaration in 2024.
This project aims to replace the existing 1.5-million-gallon tank, enhancing the water infrastructure that supplies about 40 percent of the county's drinking water. The funding, secured through the Water Resources Development Act of 2022, will be administered by the Army Corps of Engineers.
