Senegal Opens First Military Vehicle Factory with Support from South Korea

DEFENSE

Senegal inaugurated its first military vehicle factory on December 16, 2025, located at the International Industrial Platform of Diamniadio and operated by ISEVEM. This facility aims to enhance Senegal's industrial and security capabilities, reducing external dependence and establishing a defense industrial base.

Developed over 200 hectares, the plant targets an annual production of 1,000 vehicles and aims to create numerous jobs. The Senegalese government controls 35% of the capital through the Sovereign Strategic Investment Fund (FONSIS), while South Korea provides technical support, including training and technology transfer for assembly and maintenance. This project is expected to foster local subcontractor integration and position Senegal as a regional hub for defense technologies, enhancing national security and attracting investment.
