Seros Drills India's First Geothermal Well in Ladakh's Puga Valley

GEOTHERMAL

Seros has initiated drilling India's first geothermal resource-mapping well in Puga Valley, Ladakh, as part of a project to enhance the country’s geothermal energy capabilities. Targeting a depth of 900-1,000 meters, the pilot well will lead to two additional exploration wells planned for mid-2025, utilizing binary cycle technology and aiming to generate an estimated 10 MW from subsurface temperatures exceeding 200 degrees Celsius. This initiative, executed in collaboration with ONGC Energy Centre, aligns with India's strategy to diversify its clean energy portfolio beyond solar and wind.
