Shell Shipping and Maritime, CSSC Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, and Wärtsilä Marine unveiled a hybrid electric LNG carrier design at Gastech 2023 in Singapore, featuring a compact propulsion system with a cargo capacity of 185,000 cbm. The design aims for a 10% reduction in fuel consumption and a 15% decrease in greenhouse gas emissions, while enhancing operational flexibility and facilitating future decarbonization technologies. Additionally, Hudong-Zhonghua received approval for the world's largest LNG carrier design, capable of 271,000 cbm.
