SKZ Plastics Center Develops Efficient Geothermal Probes Using Nanotechnology in Germany
GEOTHERMAL
The SKZ Plastics Center is spearheading the 'EWS.MWCNT' project in Germany to develop geothermal probes using multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) for improved heat conduction. In collaboration with several institutions, the initiative aims to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of near-surface geothermal energy by reducing drilling depth and material use by up to 20%. Funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, the project also explores applications in drinking water supply and seeks to boost market acceptance of innovative geothermal technologies.
