Somalia and UN Sign 2025 Plan to Enhance Child Protection in Armed Conflict
The Federal Government of Somalia and the United Nations signed the 2025 Implementation Guide in Mogadishu, aimed at strengthening the protection of children affected by armed conflict. The agreement was signed by Minister of Defense Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, UN Special Representative James Swan, and UNICEF Representative Sandra Latouff.
This strategic framework seeks to improve accountability of security agencies and prioritize the safety of minors in conflict zones. The plan builds on recent progress and reflects the government's commitment to prevent grave violations against children, collaborating with international partners to secure the future of Somali youth. The signing ceremony included members of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Children and Armed Conflict, featuring representatives from several government ministries.
