South Korea Launches 20 Trillion Won Sovereign Wealth Fund and Strategic Export Finance Fund
DEFENSEFUSION & ADVANCED NUCLEAR POWER
South Korea has launched a 20 trillion won (approximately $13.8 billion) sovereign wealth fund aimed at enhancing national wealth, modeled after successful funds like Singapore's Temasek. The fund will be primarily financed through government equity investments while ensuring a majority stake in public institutions to mitigate privatization concerns. Additionally, a Strategic Export Finance Fund will support key sectors such as defense and nuclear power, with strategic investments planned in areas like AI and infrastructure.
