SOLAR ENERGY
The largest solar power park in Sri Lanka has commenced construction in Hambantota, spanning 450 acres with a capacity of 150 MW. The US$150 million project is expected to begin contributing to the national grid by year-end 2025, with full operations by 2026.
It aims to tackle power shortages in the Southern Province, providing 20% of the country's daytime electricity demand and creating 750 to 1,000 jobs. The park will also feature innovative agricultural practices using shaded solar panel installations.
