Sri Lanka Unveils First Quantum Computer at University of Colombo

Sri Lanka inaugurated its first quantum computer at the University of Colombo on January 21, developed by Chinese company SpinQ using nuclear magnetic resonance technology. This initiative aims to enhance research and education in fields such as healthcare and cybersecurity, with plans to integrate quantum computing into the BSc Honours program and launch a certificate course. The establishment of a Research and Development Center for Mathematical Modelling of Quantum Computing further positions Sri Lanka to leverage advanced computational capabilities for national development.
