St. Charles Moves to Secure New Natural Gas Contract Following Rejection of Coal Provider
NATURAL GAS
St. Charles is seeking a new natural gas contract to heat city facilities after rejecting a 20-year agreement with coal provider IMEA. The City Council has authorized Finance Director Bill Hannah to pursue a two- or three-year contract through an auction process, with a budget of approximately $242,000. The current contract with IMEA, which powers the city, will remain until 2035, but officials plan to explore new options around 2029 or 2030.
