STR Secures $9.6 Million DARPA Contract for Acoustic Warfare Systems Development

DEFENSE

The U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) awarded Systems & Technology Research (STR) a $9.6 million contract for the second phase of the Willow program, aimed at developing systems to counter active surface sonar.

STR will integrate counter-sonar payloads on uncrewed underwater vehicles and other platforms for validation and sea tests. The contract's total value now stands at $20.5 million, following earlier phase-one contracts awarded in 2023.
