Survey Reveals Unexploded Bombs Near Residential Area, Results Pending
A survey conducted in June identified three anomalies believed to be unexploded ordnance located eight meters beneath a field's surface. States Emergency Planning anticipates the analysis results from the UK Defence Science and Technology Laboratory will be ready in two months.
The survey, completed by 6 Alpha Associates, took two weeks, with initial results expected by the end of summer. Delays have frustrated local residents and landowners, with concerns raised by bomb disposal expert Ben Remfrey regarding the lack of urgency from Emergency Planning and Home Affairs.
The unexploded bombs, dropped by the Royal Air Force in March 1941, have been a source of anxiety, especially after a previous 2019 survey found no anomalies at a shallower depth. Residents seek closure and resolution to ensure safety.
