Sweden's FMV to Develop CV90 Prototypes for Fleet Renewal by 2031

DEFENSE

Sweden's FMV is extending the life of its CV90 combat vehicles, with work through HB Utveckling AB until 2031. The aim is to keep the fleet operational until at least 2045, involving updates to various vehicle variants.

Sweden plans to acquire 50 CV9035 MkIIIC vehicles in a joint procurement with Denmark by December 2024. The country also aims to enhance capabilities against drone threats, with potential new prototypes including electronic warfare variants. Sweden will deploy anti-aircraft Lvkv 90s to Latvia in 2026 as part of NATO commitments.
