Swedish Armed Forces Begin Issuing Blank-Firing Adapters for M4A Carbine
DEFENSE
The Swedish Armed Forces have started issuing dedicated blank-firing adapters for the Automatkarbin M4A, which was introduced earlier this year to address technical issues with the Automatkarbin 5 and a firing ban on the Automatkarbin 24. The M4A was procured rapidly, providing reliable weapons, but initially lacked compatibility with Swedish blank ammunition.
The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) and industry partners collaborated to develop these adapters. The 71st Battalion is the first unit to receive the adapters, shortly after completing a battalion exercise in preparation for its deployment to Latvia, set to begin after the new year.
