Taien Airfield Construction and Transition to Taoyuan Aerotropolis in Taiwan

DEFENSE

Taien Airfield, constructed by the Japanese Army in 1944, transitioned to Taoyuan Air Base after World War II, serving the Republic of China Air Force and hosting US Air Force squadrons until 1979. In 2007, it was handed over to the Republic of China Navy and closed in 2013, with the site now incorporated into the Taoyuan Aerotropolis economic development zone.
