TAIS Shipyards and Barzan Holding Sign $1 Billion Deal for Indonesian Frigates

DEFENSE

Turkey's TAIS Shipyards has signed a $1 billion deal with Qatar's Barzan Holding to build two Istanbul-class frigates for the Indonesian Navy, enhancing its naval modernization efforts. The agreement, reached at DIMDEX 2026 in Doha, follows a preliminary accord from July and includes risk-sharing and financing arrangements. These advanced frigates, developed under Turkey's MİLGEM program, will replace the Yavuz-class frigates and feature cutting-edge systems like Roketsan's ATMACA missile.
