HYDRO POWER
The Telangana government has launched the Munneru-Palair Link Scheme, a ₹162.54 crore project designed to mitigate flooding and enhance irrigation in Khammam, Suryapet, and Mahabubabad districts. By repurposing floodwaters from the River Munneru, the scheme aims to deliver up to 50 TMC of water annually, stabilize irrigation for 1.38 lakh acres, and support drinking water needs while generating 2 MW of hydropower. Construction will commence soon, with the project projected to save the state ₹120 crore annually in electricity costs.
