Tenaska Pennsylvania Partners LLC is applying for an operating permit for its Tenaska Westmoreland Generating Station, a 940-megawatt natural gas plant near Smithton, which emits significant pollutants including carbon dioxide. A public hearing by the state Department of Environmental Protection will be held on February 4 to address emissions monitoring and compliance concerns, particularly raised by the Environmental Integrity Project, while local residents have reported no major issues.
