Tsobo Community Development Association Condemns Violence in Adamawa State Amid Land Dispute

DEFENSE

The Tsobo Community Development Association has condemned violence in Adamawa State linked to a land dispute with the Bachama community, resulting in over 12 deaths and numerous injuries. The conflict escalated on July 7, 2025, when Tsobo youths attacked Bachama villages, leading to further retaliation.

The association accused the Nigerian Army of killing unarmed Tsobo women during a peaceful protest, a claim the military denies. Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has brokered a fragile peace deal, but the Tsobo community demands formal apologies and reparations.

The Adamawa State House of Assembly has called for an investigation into the shootings. Economic activities in the region have been disrupted, with residents unable to access farms. The Tsobo community is advocating for an independent assessment of damage, compensation for victims, and international attention to the situation, while calling for an end to the violence.
