Tulsa District Begins Demolition of State Highway 100 Bridge Near Tenkiller Dam

DEFENSE

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District commenced the demolition of the State Highway 100 bridge near Gore, Oklahoma on December 8, 2025. Kiewit, the contractor, began by removing the first section of guardrail from the 72-year-old bridge, which spans the Tenkiller Dam spillway, on December 10.

The bridge demolition involves careful dismantling due to its connection to the dam, with concrete sections being cut out piece by piece. The bridge was closed on October 6, 2025, to allow for safe demolition and reconstruction. The existing steel bridge will be replaced with a modern concrete structure, with demolition expected to finish by late February or early March 2026, and the entire project projected to take between two and two and a half years.
