UChicago and IonQ Partner to Establish IonQ Center for Engineering and Science with Quantum Research Funding

The University of Chicago and IonQ have revived plans for the IonQ Center for Engineering and Science, supported by IonQ's funding, which will feature a quantum computer and network. This center, set to enhance the Chicago Quantum Exchange's ecosystem, is expected to support over 140 research projects and will be the first university campus to host both a quantum computer and network. Construction is anticipated to begin by 2026 and conclude by 2030, complementing Illinois’ $175 million commitment to quantum research at UChicago.
