The University of Arizona has teamed up with Precise Systems, Inc. to pursue up to $151 billion in contracts for the Golden Dome missile defense program, which aims to intercept missiles, including those launched from space. This initiative, inspired by Israel's Iron Dome, is part of the SHIELD contracting vehicle approved by the U.S.

Missile Defense Agency, and includes UA startups as part of the competitive team. The collaboration seeks to bolster the defense industry in Southern Arizona, alongside established companies like Raytheon Technologies.
