The University of Las Tunas (ULT) has installed photovoltaic irrigation modules on two farms in Colombia, Cuba, to address energy limitations and increase food production. This initiative, led by the UDI, has equipped 15 hectares with sustainable irrigation systems, significantly improving productivity.

The project benefits local farmers and informs UDI's future research in sustainable development, including solar dehydration and bioclimatic architecture. There is interest from farmers to adapt this technology for home energy use.
