Urenco has initiated a net-zero project in Almelo, Netherlands, to recycle waste heat from uranium enrichment. The internal heat network will reduce natural gas consumption by 671 tonnes annually. The first phase includes a heat grid and utility building, with completion expected by 2029. A new office building at the same site features sustainable materials, achieving an MPG score of 0.7 and BREEAM Excellent certification, reflecting its low environmental impact.
