U.S. Army Awards Contract for JLTV, Considers Reinstating CUCV/LSSV Program for Non-Combat Roles
DEFENSE
The U.S. Army has awarded AM General a $230.8 million contract to produce the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) to replace the Humvee, with total replacement costs projected to reach billions. Additionally, the Army is considering reinstating the Commercial Utility Cargo Vehicle (CUCV) and Light Service Support Vehicle (LSSV) programs to provide cost-effective vehicles for non-combat roles, which could enhance fleet readiness and reduce procurement costs. A pilot program is planned to assess the effectiveness of these vehicles in current operations.
