The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced the winter access policy for Lake Sakakawea and Lake Audubon for the 2025-2026 season, providing 116 access points for Lake Sakakawea and 20 for Lake Audubon.

Access is allowed from freeze-over until March 15, 2026, with restrictions on ice driving and off-road vehicles, and anglers must use licensed vehicles on authorized roads. Users are advised to check local ice conditions and are limited to ice fishing only.
