US Army Garrison Ansbach Advances Energy Resilience Projects Under ERCIP

DEFENSE

From December 9-12, 2025, U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach hosted a session with engineers and energy stakeholders to finalize the design phase of two major Energy Resilience and Conservation Investment Program (ERCIP) projects, focusing on microgrids to enhance energy security.

ERCIP, a program funded by Congress, aims to fortify military energy and water infrastructure. The Army frequently utilizes ERCIP to develop microgrids and improve critical facility resilience. The projects at Ansbach are key milestones to establish independent power capabilities, with construction expected to start in 2026.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Engineering and Support Center in Huntsville oversees these projects, ensuring they meet technical and funding requirements. The microgrids will allow essential operations to continue uninterrupted during grid failures, thereby enhancing U.S. Army readiness in Europe.
