U.S. Army Tests ER GMLRS Rockets, Extending HIMARS Strike Range to 150 km

DEFENSE

The U.S. Army has successfully tested the Extended Range Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (ER GMLRS), a 227 mm rocket designed to extend the strike range of HIMARS and M270A2 systems to 150 km. This development enhances precision strikes against dispersed targets while maintaining existing logistics and fire mission protocols.

The ER GMLRS features a high-explosive payload with tungsten fragments, reducing unexploded ordnance risks. The modernization of M270A2 includes a Common Fire Control System, facilitating rapid integration of new munitions.
