US Army Tests Northrop Grumman's IBCS for Cruise Missile Interception at White Sands
The US Army has successfully tested the Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS), developed by Northrop Grumman, which intercepted two cruise missile targets at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. This test was part of the Follow-on Operational Test & Evaluation (FOT&E) to assess IBCS performance in tactical environments.
During the exercise, US Army Air Defenders utilized IBCS for target detection and engagement with multiple interceptors, and coordination with US Navy units was also evaluated. Results from the FOT&E will inform further development and deployment of IBCS for joint operations and future air and missile defense needs.
Northrop Grumman is producing IBCS at a facility in Madison, Alabama, following a $1 billion five-year production contract awarded in December 2021. IBCS is expected to replace existing US Army air and missile defense systems over the next decade.
