U.S. Completes Destruction of Chemical Weapons Stockpile Under International Supervision
DEFENSE
The U.S. has successfully destroyed its entire chemical weapons stockpile, marking a significant achievement in arms control and reinforcing commitments to the Chemical Weapons Convention. The destruction process began in 1990 and concluded with the final munitions eliminated at the Pueblo Chemical Depot, Colorado, and Blue Grass Army Depot, Kentucky, in 2023. The Army has transitioned its focus to ongoing support for the treaty and the management of recovered chemical materials.
